Why a Bungy-Jump is more than just a jump

Why a Bungy-Jump is more than just a jump and how we can transfer this experience in our every day life.

Some people may think: Why the f*@k do people voluntarily jump from a bridge and get scared to death?
I thought the same before I've done the first bungy in my life. I think I am more wise now and know why people do it. It kinda changed some aspects in my life as well. But let's get started with some funky facts first.
The tradition of Bungy-jumping is hundreds of years old. The first resembling bungy jump was carried out by some hardy young men from the Vanuatu islands. They throw themselves off wooden platforms with their legs attached to vines. They do that to prove their manhood.
AJ Hackett adopted this tribal ceremony into a commercial sport in the 90s. He illigally jumped from the Eiffel Tower in Paris and got arrested. Nowadays it is pretty much accessible for everyone. The highest bungy jump in the world is off the Macao Tower in China. It is more than 233 meters (764 ft.) high. Jumpers experience more than five seconds of freefall and accelerate to up to 125 mph.

So what's so tempting to people that they do stuff like that? First of all it's the kick. The adrenaline rush through your body is incredible. The tingling feeling in every muscle is addictive and releases happiness hormones in your brain. All in all a spectacular biological process in the human body.

But a bungy jump is even more than that. I started to notice that a couple of days after I've done it. I realized that everyone has a weak point. Something that we are afraid of. It may be a phobia against snakes or spiders, or we are scared to death to speak in front of hundreds of people. We are nervous about the upcoming meeting with our boss after a disastrous event. Whatever. No one is fearless. But once we've been through the worst things we start to notice that our mind has been playing a horrible joke with us and it turned out that our fears, thoughts and hesitant actions were not as bad as we thought. We are scared a lot of times, but just need to do it - and then it's not that bad. We need to trust ourselves - life is unpredictable. We need to make this commitment and just do it! Life is knocking on our doors. We just need to see the potential. If a jump is gonna be in front of you. Jump. Overcome your fears and you will see that it was not as bad as you thought.

I am more than keen to do it again!
Are you ?

Cheers

PS: Now that I've done the Bungy-jump in Cairns I'd love to do the Nevis jump in New Zealand or even the worlds highest in Macao, which is about 700$ Australian dollar.
By the way! If you do have some pocket money left you could do a 10,000$ jump off a helicopter straight into the mouth of an active Adean volcano in Pucon, Chile! The breakfast buffet is included. Wicked !
